Headcrown Group company Cruden Construction Limited has "Topped Out" it's Brookside Extra Care Project in Ormskirk for Arena Housing Group at a ceremony held on 16th June 2011.  The completed scheme will achieve  Level 4 of The Code for Sustainable Homes.

The 111 apartment scheme is the largest timber framed project on site in the UK presently and is proceeding at super speed towards final completion in February 2012.  Cruden Construction has worked hand in hand with their partner supplier Unitek Timber Frame Systems, Pozonni Design Group Architects and Arena Housing to value engineer the timber superstructure to reduce waste, improve efficiency in production and erection whilst staying within the project budget.

The three storey timber frame is impressive and features over 440 tonnes of timber, 50 tonnes of structural steel, 12900 wall panels and roof cassettes with 1.5million nails used in the manufacture and erection.  Production time is estimated at over 5000 factory man hours superseded by 10000 site man hours during the 22 weeks construction period.  All the timber used in the project has been sourced from sustainable forests and carries PEFC Chain of Custody Certification.

The construction of the £13.2m Brookside Extra Care Village is Cruden Construction's 5th Village for long standing client Arena Housing Group and the 17th Extra Care project undertaken in the last 9 years that have delivered over 1600 high quality extra care, dementia care and high dependency care apartments and bungalows within a variety of urban and suburban locations predominately in the North West of England.
